Al-Ikhlas

The word ikhlas originates from the Arabic root “kh-l-ṣ” (خلص), carrying the meaning of refinement, purification, and sincerity of the heart. Surah Ikhlas is a Meccan revelation and one of the earliest and most concise chapters of the Quran, embodying the essence of Divine unity and absolute transcendence. In this vibrant watercolour interpretation, Maaida expresses the surah’s meaning through luminous, flowing colour that feels purified by light itself.

“Say, He is Allah, One.
Allah, the Eternal Refuge.
He neither begets nor is born,
Nor is there to Him any equivalent.”

Surah Al-Ikhlas 112:1-2
