Salat Al-Fatih
Salat Al-Fatih
In this artwork, Maaida renders Salat al-Fatih, a profound invocation within the Islamic spiritual tradition. A fluid, pear-shaped form holds the composition, which suggests a vessel from which divine openings and light emerge. At the top of the composition, the name of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) is elevated in 24 karat gold leaf, applied through the traditional gold gilding technique. This symbolises the Prophetic light that illuminates the path for seekers.
The prayer flows in a contemporary white script set against a celestial watercolour background of indigos, violets, and teals. A Sacred Key: Salat al-Fatih is revered for "unlocking" spiritual veils and removing obstacles between the soul and the Divine. The Opener: It describes the Prophet (ﷺ) as the opener of what was closed and the seal of what came before. Divine Mercy: Contemplating this prayer is believed to manifest clarity and connect the seeker to an infinite ocean of Mercy.
