Qadr - The Destiny
إِنَّا كُلَّ شَيْءٍ خَلَقْنَاهُ بِقَدَرٍ
“Indeed, We have created everything in perfect balance and proportion.”
Sūrah al-Qamar 54:49
In this work, Maaida meditates on Taqdir — Qadr, the unseen architecture of destiny that orders all existence. Deeply inspired by the philosophical poetry of Muhammad Iqbal, the Poet of the East, she approaches Qadr not as a rigid decree, but as a measured unfolding, a harmony of order, capacity, discipline, and divine proportion.
Qadr encompasses meanings of measure, estimation, ability, and ordained balance. Maaida weaves these layered interpretations into a unified visual language, where disciplined calligraphic structure meets fluid washes of colour. Precision and movement exist in quiet dialogue; each line submits to proportion, each space carries intention.
Through this piece, she presents destiny not as confinement, but as guidance — a shaping force that refines the self. In honouring Qadr, her work reflects the hidden equilibrium within creation, where discipline becomes not restriction, but grace.
