Hamd - The Praised One

This artwork presents Āyat al-Kursī in traditional Maghrebi calligraphy, framed within a classical Islamic illuminated border. Rich turquoise, reds, and 23.5 karat shell-gold draw upon the tradition of sacred manuscript illumination, where geometry and floral ornament serve to honour the Divine Word. The composition embodies reverence and harmony, allowing the sacred verse to rest within a luminous architectural frame of balance, devotion, and timeless beauty.

اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ ۚ لَا تَأْخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلَا نَوْمٌ ۚ لَهُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ ۗ مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَشْفَعُ عِندَهُ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ ۚ يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ ۖ وَلَا يُحِيطُونَ بِشَيْءٍ مِّنْ عِلْمِهِ إِلَّا بِمَا شَاءَ ۚ وَسِعَ كُرْسِيُّهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ ۖ وَلَا يَئُودُهُ حِفْظُهُمَا ۚ وَهُوَ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ

“Allah — there is no deity except Her, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Her nor sleep. To Her belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Her except by Her permission? She knows what lies before them and what lies behind them, and they encompass nothing of Her knowledge except what She wills. Her Throne extends over the heavens and the earth, and preserving them does not weary Her. And She is the Most High, the Most Great.”
